Our First Walk in Paris

We woke up around 3:30 feeling a bit more rested and decided to walk to the Eiffel Tower. As we walked along, we noticed more and more people walking in the same direction, eventually arriving at Champs du Mars where everyone was turning in at several gates, being metal detected and bags searched before being allowed to enter. No alcohol permitted. The entire area was blocked off and had high security. It was fun to see how enthusiastic the French fans were, wrapped in the flag, wearing blue, red and white wigs and flags painted on their cheeks.
The Eiffel Tower was open but since we've been up both times before, we weren't really interested in waiting in line and spending all that money again.
So we just enjoyed our walk, being entertained by the revellers, warm breeze in the air, occasional police vans passing, sirens blaring.

We stopped at a supermarket on our way back to pick up supplies for supper. Fresh salmon fried in butter, pasta with goat cheese, peas and tomatoes.

nite, nite...
